Floreo notes
Who this ship suits
Carnival Celebration suits families, friends and first-time cruisers who want a lively, casual ship with a lot of choice and a relaxed dress code. Carnival says the ship sails from Miami and, like its sister Mardi Gras, is organised into six themed Zones.
Who might look elsewhere
If you want a calm, design-led ship or a quieter evening scene, Celebrity or Virgin Voyages may suit you better. Families who want Disney characters and storytelling will find a different style on Disney.
On board
The line highlights Celebration Central, the atrium; new venues including Latitudes, The Golden Jubilee and Emeril's Bistro 1397; and returning favourites such as BOLT, the roller coaster at sea, Bonsai Teppanyaki, the RedFrog Tiki Bar, Family Feud Live and Seuss at Sea.
Cabins and planning
The official deck plan lists interior, ocean view, Cove Balcony, balcony, extended balcony and suite categories, plus Family Harbor rooms for families, Havana cabins and Cloud 9 Spa rooms. The Havana area and Family Harbor each carry their own perks; check what is included before choosing. The same deck plan states a gross tonnage of 183,521 and a guest capacity of 5,362 at double occupancy.
What costs extra
Carnival lists BOLT as an additional cost, with a minimum height of 52 inches, a maximum of 77 inches and weight limits; children under 12 ride with someone 15 or older. Carnival's gratuity information says gratuities are not included in the fare but can be added when booking, and drinks carry a service charge. Emeril's Bistro 1397 and other specialty venues are priced separately from the main dining rooms.
Planning checklist
- Decide which extras, such as BOLT or specialty dining, you want to budget for.
- Choose a cabin area that fits your group: family, spa or standard.
- Book the night before in Miami.
