Port of call
A stop along the way where passengers go ashore for the day before the ship sails on.

A port of call is any stop between the start and the end of a cruise. The ship usually arrives in the morning and leaves in the late afternoon or evening, and you can go ashore on your own or on a shore excursion. Some cities are both: Barcelona is a homeport for some cruises and a port of call on others. In a port of call you will normally have somewhere between six and ten hours, so it pays to decide what matters most to you and to keep an eye on the all-aboard time.
Example
On a week from Seattle, Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan are ports of call.

Floreo tip
Check the arrival and departure times, not just the list of ports. Two cruises with the same ports can give you very different amounts of time ashore.
