Nonstop into Punta Cana, DO

30 U.S. airports fly here without a layover, grouped by how long you'd be in the air.

Nonstop service reported by U.S. carriers only; a foreign airline may fly routes not shown here.

Punta Cana is the eastern corner of the Dominican Republic, and more than almost anywhere in the Caribbean it is an all-inclusive destination. Fifty kilometers of beach, and behind it a nearly unbroken wall of large resorts. That is not a criticism if it is what you came for. For a short trip with children, or with a group, it is very hard to beat on price. But the country around it is real and worth leaving the gate for: a cenote in the woods at Cap Cana, a national park island offshore, and a coast that gets wilder the further north you drive. December to April is dry, calm and expensive. Hurricane season runs June to November. The shoulder weeks on either side of the peak are where the value sits.

Nothing over five hours nonstop from here, which is normal for most Midwest airports. Hawaii and Alaska usually mean one connection.

Nonstop route data from the U.S. Department of Transportation (BTS T-100 International), covering 2025-06..2026-05, last updated 2026-09-02. International routes are reported by U.S. carriers only. Airlines change schedules, so an advisor confirms before you book.

In Punta Cana

Where to stay

Tortuga Bay

Puntacana Resort & Club

Villas laid out by Oscar de la Renta at the quiet southern end, with their own beach and golf. The most understated luxury in the area.

Eden Roc Cap Cana

Cap Cana

Suites around courtyards and private pools, Relais & Châteaux, with a shuttle down to the beach club. Adults-leaning and calm.

The big all-inclusives on Bávaro

Bávaro Beach

The main strip. Enormous properties, endless options, and the best value per night on the coast once the group gets large enough.

What to do

Saona Island

A day by catamaran to an island inside Cotubanamá National Park, with shallow water and a sandbar you can stand on a mile offshore. The classic Punta Cana day out, and it earns it.

Hoyo Azul

A cenote at the foot of a cliff in Cap Cana. Cold, startlingly blue, and about as far from a buffet as you can get in twenty minutes.

Macao Beach

Public, undeveloped, with real waves and a surf school on the sand. Go to see what this coast looked like before the resorts arrived.

Playa Juanillo

Cap Cana's quieter beach, with beach clubs on it rather than resorts.

Where to eat

El Cortecito

A scruffy beach village in the middle of the resort strip, with fish shacks and prices that will genuinely surprise you after a week of buffets.

La bandera

The national lunch: rice, red beans, stewed meat and salad. Ask for it anywhere local and you will eat better than you did at the resort.

Mamajuana

Rum, red wine and honey steeped in bark and herbs. Sold everywhere, wildly variable in quality, and the bottle is the souvenir.
