Who this line suits
Royal Caribbean suits families and mixed groups who want a big ship with a lot to do: waterslides, surf simulators, climbing walls and Broadway-style shows. It also suits first-time cruisers who want plenty of choice on a short trip.
Who might look elsewhere
Travellers who want a quiet, design-led ship may prefer Celebrity. Adults who want no children on board should look at Virgin Voyages. Families who want Disney characters will find a different style on Disney.
What the fare covers
Royal Caribbean's FAQ lists your stateroom with daily housekeeping, the main dining room, the Windjammer buffet and casual venues, water, tea, select juices and classic coffee, pools, thrill activities such as rock climbing and the FlowRider on select ships, sports courts, the fitness centre and the complimentary Adventure Ocean youth program.
What costs extra
Royal Caribbean lists specialty dining, Wi-Fi, shore excursions, spa treatments and beverage packages as optional add-ons. Its kids page lists a separate program for babies aged 6 to 36 months; check its terms for your ship.
Perfect Day at CocoCay
Royal Caribbean says there is no admission fee and most experiences are complimentary, including Splashaway Bay, Captain Jill's Galleon, Oasis Lagoon and the main beaches. Thrill Waterpark, the adults-only Hideaway Beach, Coco Beach Club and the Up, Up and Away balloon cost extra.
Shore excursions
Royal Caribbean says that if a tour booked through the line is delayed, the ship will wait, and if it cannot wait the line will arrange for you to rejoin the ship at no cost. Guests touring on their own are responsible for getting back on time.

From an advisor
The ship matters more than the line here. The newest Icon- and Oasis-class ships are destinations in themselves, while smaller, older ships like Grandeur of the Seas sail quieter and less expensive itineraries. Tell us whether the ship or the ports are the point, and we will match accordingly.
